Arm lift surgery is used to treat the excess skin and fat that can accumulate on the underside of the upper arms. This problem area is often referred to as “bingo wings”.

Patients often feel very self conscious about their flabby arms and never wear short sleeves. The excess tissue is taken from the inside of the arm to produce a well defined and more toned arm. The procedure is carried out under local anesthesia, although it can be performed under general anesthesia if requested, and takes about 90 mins to perform. It is a daycase surgery so no overnight stay is needed.

Cormac is now performing these cases over two stages in order to get optimal results – the first stage consists of a standard arm lift which de-bulks the arms. The second stage or the “finesse stage” is carried out after 3-6 months and involves HD lipo to sculpt the arms giving shape and definition to the upper arms. Any scar revisions or tweaks can be carried out at this stage to provide the best surgical outcome.

The stitches are all absorbable and a bulky dressing is applied for 7 days. After a week, a tight garment is applied and this should be left on for 6 weeks to get the optimum results. There will be swelling at first which is normal but this reduces significantly over the first 6 weeks. Downtime is about 7-10 days and most people are back to work after a week.
